Most of you probably didn’t noticed this tweet yesterday. With that whole TN-X drama going on, but Josh_Axey just made his legacy to the scene public..
Why do I say his legacy? Well it seems like he’s going to work on other things now..
Here is what he had to say about it:
“This cataloging (which is mostly complete) has been a long time coming.
I have promised to dedicate the time to doing it for a while and to a few. Here it is, more or less.
I set out with a few small goals at the start of this:
1. Investigate my hardware queries. – [mostly tick] (pesky licensed data)
2. Get a webkit vuln working in a rudimentary fashion. – [tick]
3. Learn something new. – [tick tick tick tick]
I (mostly) achieved these goals. If I can do it, anyone can.
For anything I have managed to catalogue and place online, check my GitHub (github.com/joshaxey)
You will find some repros, some tools from the webkit research & other junk. Maybe it will be useful to you? (Probably not!)”
So getting into his farewell gift you’ll find alot of interesting stuff along with detailed pictures and notes. Here are some examples:
Notes for messing with the Vita’s .XML Update file
(As yifanlu mentioned earlier: Fuzzing with xml files is a good way to start finding an entry point for hacking the Vita!)
Hardware Analysis of the Memory Cards
Game Cards Hardware Analysis, testings and high quality CAD drawings
and much more like the mystery port for example. Here an excerpt…
1.64V present, probably 1V trigger, 0.16V to 0.2V of ‘noise’ constant. As Yifan had reasoned before, it definitely looks to be USB related. Why is the 1V trigger-esque there? Got some ideas.
Are you interested? Go check it out yourself..
