SX OS 3.0.5 Beta Released

Nintendo is probably getting very tired of the CFW releases that keep dropping almost in tandem with their official OS updates. All I can say is that it keeps the modding community alive and well. Today, we’ve got word of another such update from Team Xecuter by way of their 3.0.5 beta. Let’s take a look.

What’s New in 3.0.5 Beta:

Full compatibility with Switch Firmware 10.2.0
You can now safely enjoy firmware 10.2.0 from your emuNAND!

Stable Super Mario 3D All-Stars (for those who got an early copy from Walmart)
We got reports of crash/hang issues with the popular upcoming game `Super Mario 3D All-Stars`, we’ve investigated this and fixed it!

Improved console battery life
Previously, when shutting down the console a tiny amount of current was still being drawn. This has been resolved, your battery won’t deplete anymore when the console is turned off.

General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.

Instructions for first-time users of the SX Pro/SX Gear dongles:

  1. Download the latest SX OS beta boot.dat file from xecuter’s website,
  2. Insert your Switch’s microSD card into your computer.
  3. Drag and drop boot.dat file to the microSD card. If you have an old boot.dat file, let this overwrite it. If you’re a new SX OS user, this just sits on the root.
  4. Return your microSD card to your Switch and use it how you always have.
  5. Boot the system using the SX Pro dongle or the payload injection method as you always have.

Instructions for current users of the dongles:

  1. Go into the photo album app while using your current SX OS.
  2. Once inside, user the R1 button to go all of the ways to the furthest right options menu.
  3. The final option at the bottom should be to update SX OS.
  4. Follow the prompts to update.

SX OS 3.0.3 Released

Now with a total of four products for the Switch under their belt, Team Xecuter has a lot on their hands. The newest products SX Lite and SX Core, for the Lite and Mariko models respectively, need some attention too. This new SX OS addresses some issues. Let’s take a look together.

Note from Team Xecuter:

‘We are back with a minor (yet important!) update for SX OS, as well as a PC utility for updating your SX Core/Lite firmware over USB. The latter is required for people who ran tools that were not designed for their Switch console. One example is the popular `Choi Du Jour NX`, which people use to upgrade/downgrade their firmware. This tool was designed for classic erista/rcm consoles, and as such is dangerous to use on Mariko consoles.’

3.0.3 Changelog:

  • SX Core/Lite firmware v1.3
SX Core/Lite users will be prompted to install a firmware update upon first launch of SX OS 3.0.3. This is a mandatory update that improves the stability of SX Core/Lite. It also adds hardening against accidental bricks that were caused by running tools designed for Erista/RCM consoles on. People who are unable to run SX OS v3.0.3 because they bricked their consoles are advised to run the standalone USB updater application.
  • New functionality added to SX Core menu
The SX Core menu in the SX OS boot menu has been enriched with some new functionality for advanced users:
    • Cleanup:
Will remove any trace of SX Core/Lite on your NAND.
    • Genuine Boot:
Boot straight into original firmware without going through the typical SX OS bootchain. This is *different* from using the regular boot original firmware functionality, for example you won’t be protected from getting your fuses burnt. Only use when you know what you are doing!
  • Minor stability improvements
You know the drill! Under the hood we’re always changing things, to increase both stability and performance of your beloved SX OS.

Where to Buy:

The best current place to buy in the US, and generally has sales pretty often is from Mod3DSCard’s site. If you need an SX Core or SX Lite, their site may have some. But in the US, they’re a bit harder to find.

Scroll on to find out.

3.0.2 Changelog:

  • ‘Fixed savedata bug
In some instances game progress would not be saved correctly. This behavior could be observed in “castle crashers” (for example). This has been tracked down and resolved!
  • Reworked “GPT Repair” functionality for big-NAND users
Some people with bigger NAND chips reported not being able to boot into SX OS with our latest update. Affected users should use the “GPT repair” option in the SX OS boot menu (Under options: Arrowright:NAND) which has been revised to fix the partition table for people with bigger capacity NAND chips.
  • Popular extensions working again
Popular extensions to SX OS like SX Autoloader, Tesla Overlays and sys-clk overlay are fully working again!
  • Reboot to payload functionality restored
You can now reboot to any payload again. (Only for Erista consoles)
  • EmuNAND on eMMC working again
We got reports of EmuNANDs stored on eMMC no longer working, this has been addressed and fixed.
  • Many other minor stability improvements
General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.
  • Fixed error 2162-0002 game crashes ( v3.0.2 only, v3.0.1 been purged )
We introduced a regression in SX OS 2.9.5 which made some games crash with error code 2162-0002 (when accessing in game manuals and such). This has been addressed and resolved.’

Hekate v5.2.0 and Nyx 0.9.0 Released

We’re back again talking about another Hekate and Nyx release. And just like that, we have another revision of both hekate and NYX. You want to know what Hekate is? We’ll cover that. Already know what it is and wonder what it does this time? We got you. Any other questions? Let us know in the comments below. Let’s dig in!

So, what is Hekate anyhow:

For those of you who have been living under a rock or are like me and use an SX Pro device, here’s the skinny. Hekate is a custom firmware for the Switch that is free. But that’s not all, the GitHub more accurately lists it as a “Custom Nintendo Switch bootloader, firmware patcher, and more.” If you have been following it and you want to know what’s new or if you’re new and you want to know what Hekate 5.2 will get you, we have you covered.

Hekate Changelog:

  • Updated, improved and faster SDMMC driver
    Faster and proper than before
    Full error checking
Reinits to lower bus speed if failure
Supports 1-bit mode (you will get a warning in Nyx if that’s the case)
  • Updated Display Interface driver
    Initializes based on display panel
Checks if already initialized and deinits first
Adds Window D and Cursor Window support
  • Add boot time emuMMC selection
Using the emupath key in a boot entry will load the selected emuMMC.
This can also be forced by using the correct boot cfg storage bit and writing the path at the emummc path offset. Check readme for these.
The format is: emupath=emuMMC/RAW1, emupath=emuMMC/SD00, etc. (ONLY works with ones created by hekate, as it depends on the raw_based/file_based files that have emuMMC info).
  • Check for HOS FS driver supporting SD card format
It disallows booting if SD card is exFAT and HOS uses the FAT32-only driver.
Without that you would boot into a black screen before.
  • Add emummcforce key
Forces emuMMC and disallows booting if emummc.ini is not found or emuMMC is disabled
  • Add exosphere.ini parsing and CAL0 blanking support
Users are discouraged to enable that Atmosphere feature, as it is not yet validated as safe because of caching
exosphere.ini prodinfo keys are parsed during boot and applied automatically.
Users can choose to override them with cal0blank and cal0writesys hekate ini boot entry keys.
The value of these (0 or 1) will be applied on top exosphere.ini value and will effectively override it.
  • Disallow Auto NOGC in stock
Users can still force it with kip1patch=nogc
  • Add EKS support
  • Improve KIP1 patching
  • Add Interrupts handler driver
  • New upgraded gpio driver with full configuration support
  • Exception handling that allows your to always continue
  • Fix Minerva emc table corruption
  • Countless other fixes and additions!! Check commit log if you want to learn more.
  • emuMMC
    • File based now uses FastFS with speeds almost as fast as RAW
    • Updated, improved and faster SDMMC driver
    • Retries on lower bus speeds if failure and works even in 1-bit mode

NYX Changelog:

  • USB Driver and Tools
    Check below for added features
(Keep in mind that if anything goes wrong or you get stuck during a USB op, you can press both volume buttons to bail out.)
  • USB Mass Storage
It supports SD Card, eMMC and currently selected emuMMC
eMMC and emuMMC are read-only by default
  • USB Gamepad emulation (Joy-Con)
This new usb feature will allow you to use Joy-Con as a free gamepad on a PC.
Can be paired with tools like x360ce to enable support to all games.
  • SD Card Partition Manager
Allows you to select up to 2 emuMMC + Linux + Android.
Any combo is allowed, even if you just want to repartition it back to one FAT partition.
The procedure is automatic on selecting sizes and offsets.
The tool is also able to backup your SD Card into Ramdisk and then get restored, if the total used size is less than 1GB. If you have more files than that, you will be asked to copy your files to your PC via UMS.
It also allows you to flash L4T Linux images and Android Twrp images.
The Flash Android can be also used to reboot into Twrp if a file to flash is not found.
  • Joy-Con Support
It acts as a virtual mouse fallback for users with broken touch screens
    Cursor Movement: Left Stick. Click:A/ZL/ZR. Close/Back: B. Log screen: – or +
  • Home Screen Selection support
You can now choose in Nyx Options between 4 modes:
    -Main menu: Default main menu
-All Configs: Merges Launch and More Configs as long as there are enough empty slots
-Launch: Uses Launch screen as home screen
-More configs: Uses More configs screen as home screen
All of them support customized background bmp
  • Fix Archive Bits v3
The new version automatically fixes everything, without the need of 2 options
It’s extremely fast, because now only changes what needs to be changed. Even if user has thousands of folders
Supports huge mods or texture packs that are split on FAT32.
(As long as the folder name has a 3 char extension. Exanmple: zelda_hd_textures.hts)
  • Add Color Theme support for highlighted text
You can choose in Nyx Options
  • Fuses Info is now HW & Fuses info
Adds Display panelTouch panelDRAM Chips and SoC Chip info
  • Add SD / eMMC RAW read benchmark
Find it in SD Card or eMMC info
  • Allow eMMC restoring for smaller or bigger backups
Useful for >32GB eMMC mods. You will get a warn about it.
If you don’t fit the eMMc modding description, then your backup is corrupt.
  • Add simple emuMMC backup
It supports all sized partition based emuMMC
For now it can only backup the first 0xE0 partition that it finds
  • Additional emuMMC changes
Allow partition selection when creating a raw partition based emuMMC
-Clear partition start when creating RAW Partition based emuMMC
-Refresh emuMMC status window when creating a new emuMMC to reflect the new info
  • Touch panel tuning calibration
Allows you to fix any issue with touch in Nyx and HOS.
It will also check your panel for HW issues before proceeding.
If an issue is found, the calibration will stop to avoid a bug in the touch firmware.
  • Add Window D as Log screen window
Can be shown by pressing – or + on Joy-Con
Screenshot function will also save that screen to SD

Additional changes:

  • Add Joy-Con Bluetooth pairing info dump. Used in L4T Android/Linux.
  • Add Update Reboot 2 Payload option
It automatically updates reboot_payload.bin if fss0 is used.
  • Disallow eMMC operations when battery is low to protect from sudden shut off
  • Add SD error report info in SD Card info
  • Add Ramdisk support
  • Add primitive eMMC BIS support
  • Add Time offset config. This is manually done for now. In a later version, the offset will be parsed from HOS.
  • Fix hanging when parsing non HOS GPT in eMMC info
  • Fix a long standing heap corruption issue that would hang Nyx
  • eMMC Backup/Restore Verification config is now moved to Nyx config (nyx.ini)
  • Fix Battery Charger and Fuel Gauge infos showing wrong values for some stats
  • Allow screenshots only every 2s and add capture effect
  • Decrease Idle power drain
  • Countless other fixes and additions!! Check commit log if you want to learn more.

SX OS 2.9.5 Released

Another firmware release from Nintendo, another release from the custom firmwares of the world. It’s the great cat and mouse game that will probably never stop. Nintendo released 10.0.0 and then 10.0.1 shortly after. Today’s topic of discussion is SX OS 2.9.5 on Nintendo’s 10.0.1.

  • Local Multiplayer over the internet (LAN play) updated.
Local Multiplayer over the internet (LAN play) has gotten some stability improvements. This should help with newer games like Animal Crossing. Please keep in mind to use appropriate MTU/PMTU settings, as some games are very picky about the introduced latency when playing over the internet.
  • Support for chinese gamecart images.
We have added support for playing backups of chinese gamecart (XCI) images. The switch released in Mainland China only has very few cartridges available at the moment, but this groundwork has also been made so we can support playing western games on chinese switches that soon will be able to run SX OS using our new SX Core/Lite product family!’

General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.’

If You’re Modded:

There are several components when it comes to a new release. First off, never update your handheld until the newest CFW has released. In terms of that new CFW, this is a sensitive question to answer. We know that the general path to a CFW for the system is through Atmosphere. Once it gets updated, then usually the others take the Atmosphere release and modify it to suit their feature set (SX OS comes to mind). An article will be out shortly discussing Atmosphere for 10.0.0. Stay tuned!

Team Xecuter Announces Preorders for SX CORE & SX LITE

You came here looking for knowledge. You’ve come to the right place, my friend. Whether you’re already aware of the SX line of products and you want to know more. Or you’ve been living under a rock and want to know all there is to know about the SX line. Read on and you shall find what you seek.

What is this SX line you speak of?

Great question! The SX line of products is a way of executing a custom firmware on your Switch. Up to this point, you had to have an original launch Switch to modify it. Anyone with the newer Switches or a Switch Lite were left out thanks to Nintendo. This has to do with the way that you have to activate the exploit on the older Switches. The SX Core is for the standard model of Nintendo Switch and of course, the SX Lite is for the Lite models. The original way of executing the mod was with a USB-C dongle. The newest SX products are installed internally and are permanently part of the Switch. So now that you’re caught up, any other questions?

Yeah, what of the official announcement from the title?

I have that right here, I’ll share the official announcement with you now.

‘First of all, we hope you and your families are safe and healthy during this global pandemic that has hit our civilization hard. We got many questions about the current status of our new products, and after many hurdles we are excited to announce we will be opening up preorders for our SX Core and SX Lite products starting today. Just like the SX Pro, the retail price for the SX Core and SX Lite is currently fixed at $45.95 and comes with a free SX OS License (although you are free to not use SX OS, of course).

All distributors and vendors will start taking preorders in the next hours/days. We want to give you this heads up to give everyone an equal opportunity to be among the first to receive their retail copy of the next generation of Team Xecuter’s finest products for your beloved Switch consoles! Those of you who were selected for the private beta (you know who you are!) should get their review units shipped towards the end of next week. After their sanity check and feedback are in we will ramp up production and strive to deliver the retail preorders around the end of April.

That’s it for today. Stay tuned for more!’

SX OS 3.0.0 Shown Off…For Nintendo Switch Lite!

“Never say Impossible. – As TX has done it, SX OS now runs on the Switch Lite!” They told us it would happen and we all speculated how it could be. Well, Team Xecuter has finally shown us a sweet, sweet taste of their forthcoming SX OS 3.0.0 running on a Switch Lite.

Announcement (it isn’t much):

‘We rocked the Switch in 2019 and with the year soon over, here is a little teaser of one of the things to come early 2020!’

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rceOixx2gfg

What Does This Mean:

Well, first off, we have to consider a few things. This video we’re posting below does indeed show SX OS being loaded on a Switch Lite. And there’s no trickery afoot when they go and load a .XCI game that is on the microSD card. However, there are several things that we’re still in the dark about. It’s 3.0.0, but does that mean that we have to be on the newest 9.1.0 for it to work? Maybe a previous firmware will be required for 3.0.0 to work? We just don’t know. So while you may have a Switch Lite on 9.1.0, you may be updated to something higher by the time this 3.0.0 update comes out. Right now they’re only on their 2.9.3 version. That means that we could see 2.9.4-2.9.9 or 2.10 and upwards before 3.0.0 ever drops.

Additionally, it looks like it doesn’t require any additional dongle or rail jig (as it has no rails for a jig). We can safely assume that this means an installation of some kind will need to be done inside of the Switch. Please bear in mind that that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be a soldered solution…however, this is very likely. However, this author would love to see a solderless solution that just requires that you place it on the inside of the Switch and the Switch gets screwed back together and the pressure holds the solution in place.

Lastly, does this work on the newer model full-sized Switch as well? We could safely assume that the boards inside are different. However, if they are not and these two match, then that’s a solution that works on both, maybe all 3 models. Only time will tell, however, I would really bet my money that there will be 2 different chips with soldering required. I really, really hope not though.

SX OS Updated to 2.9.3 with 9.1.0 Support

And just like that, SX OS users also have support for 9.1.0 firmware on their Switches. It didn’t take long after Atmosphere for 9.1.0 had been released. This most likely implies that the changes from the previous Switch firmware to the new one wasn’t something terribly hard to bypass. Nevertheless, we have the changelog, where to buy an SX dongle, and instructions down below if you want to get started!

2.9.3 Announcement:

‘This is all we have for today. We know everyone is eagerly anticipating news on our upcoming solution for patched consoles (fuse-patched, mariko, switch lite).. please hang in there, we will NOT disappoint you!’

    • ‘Compatibility with firmware 9.1.0

A few days ago, firmware 9.1.0 was released. While this is a minor update in terms of new functionality, we want to make sure that everyone who updated their console (or emuNAND) to 9.1.0 can still enjoy SX OS.

    • Compatibility with game titles that use newer encryption

Some (very) recent games would display as white boxes in the menu and/or could not be installed. This has been resolved. Enjoy the full compatibility!’

Where to Buy:

The best current place to buy in the US, and generally has sales pretty often is from Mod3DSCard’s site. If you need an SX Core or SX Lite, their site may have some. But in the US, they’re a bit harder to find.

Instructions for first-time users of the SX Pro/SX Gear dongles:

  5. Boot the system using the SX Pro dongle or the payload injection method as you always have.

Atmosphere CFW for 9.1.0 Released

We all saw the Switch update to 9.1.0 that came out. Outlets everywhere were, of course, mentioning that you shouldn’t update if you want to still keep your CFW. Well, I’m happy to report that if you’re an Atmosphere user, you now can use it on 9.1.0! That’s not all that the newest Atmosphere update brings. There’s a full changelog down below. Enjoy!

Atmosphere 0.10 Changelog:

  • ‘Support was added for 9.1.0
    • Please note: The temporary hid-mitm added in Atmosphere 0.9.x will be removed in Atmosphere 0.10.1.
      • Please ensure your homebrew is updated.
  • The Stratosphere rewrite was completed.
    • libstratosphere was rewritten as part of Stratosphere’s refactor.
      • Code responsible for providing and managing IPC services was greatly improved.
        • The new code is significantly more accurate (it is bug-for-bug compatible with Nintendo’s code), and significantly faster.
    • ams.mitm was rewritten as part of Stratosphere’s refactor.
      • Saves redirected to the SD card are now separated for sysmmc vs emummc.
      • Please note: If you find any bugs, please report them so they can be fixed.
  • Thanks to the rewrite, Atmosphere now uses significantly less memory.
    • Roughly 10 additional megabytes are now available for custom system modules to use.
    • This means you can potentially run more custom system modules simultaneously.
      • If system modules are incompatible, please ask their authors to reduce their memory footprints.
  • Atmosphere’s configuration layout has had major changes.
    • Configuration now lives inside /atmosphere/config/.
    • Atmosphere code now knows what default values should be, and includes them in code.
      • It is no longer an error if configuration inis are not present.
    • Correspondingly, Atmosphere no longer distributes default configuration inis.
      • Templates are provided in /atmosphere/config_templates.
    • loader.ini was renamed to override_config.ini.
    • This fixes the longstanding problem that atmosphere updates overwrote user configuration when extracted.
  • Atmosphere’s process override layout was changed.
    • Atmosphere now uses the /atmosphere/contents directory, instead of /atmosphere/titles.
      • This goes along with a refactoring to remove all reference to “title id” from code, as Nintendo does not use the term.
    • To make this transition easier, a temporary functionality has been added that migrates folders to the new directory.
      • When booting into 0.10.0, Atmosphere will rename /atmosphere/titles/<program id> to /atmosphere/contents/<program id>.
        • This functionality may or may not be removed in some future update.
      • This should solve any transition difficulties for the typical user.
      • Please make sure that any future mods you install extract to the correct directory.
  • Support for configuring override keys for hbl was improved.
    • The key used to override applications versus a specific program can now be different.
      • The key to override a specific program can be managed via override_key.
      • The key to override any app can be managed via override_any_app_key.
    • Default override behavior was changed.
      • By default, atmosphere will now override the album applet with hbl unless R is held.
      • By default, atmosphere will now override any application with hbl only if R is held.
  • The default amount of applet memory reserved has been slightly increased.
    • This allows the profile selector applet to work by default in applet mode.
  • The way process override status is captured was changed.
    • Process override keys are now captured exactly once, when the process is created.
      • This fixes the longstanding issue where letting go of the override button partway into the process launch could cause problems.
    • The Mitm API was changed to pass around override status.
      • Mitm services now know what keys were held when the client was created, as well as whether the client is HBL/should override contents.
    • An extension was added to pm:info to allow querying a process’s override status.
  • Thanks to process override capture improvements, hbl html behavior has been greatly improved.
    • Web applets launched by hbl will now always see the /atmosphere/hbl_html filesystem
  • Support was added to exosphere for enabling usermode access to the PMU registers.
    • This can be controlled via exosphere!enable_user_pmu_access in BCT.ini.
  • An enormous number of minor bugs were fixed.
    • dmnt’s cheat VM had a fix for an inversion in opcode behavior.
    • An issue was fixed in fs.mitm’s management of domain object IDs that could lead to system corruption in rare cases.
    • The Mitm API no longer silently fails when attempting to handle commands passing C descriptors.
      • On previous atmosphere versions, certain commands to FS would silently fail due to this…
        • No users reported any visible errors, but it was definitely a problem behind the scenes.
      • These commands are now handled correctly.
    • Atmosphere can now display a fatal error screen significantly earlier in the boot process, if things go wrong early on.
    • The temporary hid mitm will no longer sometimes cause games to fail to detect input.
    • Mitm Domain object ID management no longer desynchronizes from the host process.
    • An issue was fixed that could cause service acquisition to hang forever if certain sm commands were called in a precise order.
    • An off-by-one was fixed that could cause memory corruption in server memory management.
    • … and too many more bugs fixed to reasonably list them all 🙂
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.’

uLaunch for Switch Updated!

uLaunch is now at it’s second revision after months and months of tireless reverse engineering. XorTroll intends on updating more as time goes on, but judging by what the release notes shows, it’s definitely already a home run. Let’s take a look at it, shall we?

What is uLaunch?:

‘uLaunch is a very ambitious project, consisting on two custom library applets, a custom system application and a custom system applet, in order to replace the console’s HOME menu with a custom, homebrew-oriented one. This isn’t any kind of HOME menu extension, injection, patch, etc. uLaunch is a complete reimplementation, 100% open-source, which also takes over eShop and Parental control applets and flog system title (all of them are pretty much useless with this reimpl) for its extended functionality.’

Features:

HOME Menu features:

  • Proper launching and foreground management: launch, suspend and close titles and applets
  • Proper general channel handling (some of it might be not implemented): sleep, shutdown, reboot, HOME menu press detection…
  • Settings:
    • Show connected WiFi network’s name
    • Open connection applet in case user wants to change network settings
    • Change console’s language and show active one
    • Change console’s nickname and show current one
  • User features:
    • Allow creating user on the startup menu
    • Show user’s page (in order to edit nickname, icon, friends…)
  • Homebrew support
    • Launching as applets (no need of Album!)
    • Launching as applications (no need of any titles to do so!)
    • Custom basic homebrew menu
    • Option to add custom NRO accessors to main menu (homebrew or custom items easily accessible, no more need of forwarders!)
  • UI
    • Themes (different to official HOME menu themes/NXThemes)
      • Custom icons, menu assets and graphics (custom images, colors, sizes, positions…), background…
      • Custom background music and sound effects!
    • Folders in order to keep your main menu organized!
  • Users
    • PC-like login on startup (select user and use it for everything, log off, register/change/remove password…)
    • User password support! (up to 15 characters)
  • Miscellaneous extras
    • Web browsing (via web-applet) directly from the main menu!
    • Console screen capturing from PC itself (Windows-only) via USB-C cable and uViewer tool!’

Installation:

  1. Go to the github page here and download the newest uLaunch zip file.
  2. Insert your microSD card into your computer.
  3. On the microSD card, you’ll have a ‘main’ directory for your current CFW (i.e. atmosphere folder for Atmosphere). If you’re uncertain if a folder is the main folder, just know that it will have a ‘titles’ folder inside of it. If it doesn’t, go back and look in the next folder.
  4. Extract your uLaunch zip file somewhere on your PC. Inside of it will be a folder also called ‘titles’. Drag and drop this into your main folder and it may ask if you want to merge the folders. If so, just say yes. If it asks if you want to overwrite files, that implies you already have some kind of home menu replacement. So you will need to overwrite the files in order to use uLaunch.
  5. Once that is done transferring, eject your microSD card and place it back in your Switch.
  6. Load your CFW as you normally would and Enjoy!

NOTE: Should you want to uninstall or disable this or maybe just want to look into uLaunch more, you should head over to the github page using this link.

Releases: SX OS 2.9.1, 2.9.2

Just a little over a week ago Team Xecuter released the 2.9 version of their SX OS CFW. This was a highly requested piece of “firmware” because it finally was compatible with the Switch’s 9.0.0 update. However, while it worked for some, it was broken for most. We released our article at that time announcing the update, but with a warning; you shouldn’t downgrade back after this and your XCI files may or may not work. Some people even reported issues with ChoiDujour no longer working properly. Since then Team Xecuter has released two new updates. Since they were practically back to back, we’re going to talk about both of them right now.

2.9.1 Announcement:

  • Fixed Issues With ChoDuJourNX
  • XCI Compatibility Improved
There is still XCI compatibility issues, we’re looking into, but this should solve *a lot* of issues for people who could not play any games on 9.x. We’re investigating those… People who repacked games to include updates, those are the only ones that still have issues on 9.x. Your help on our TX Discord in pinpointing out which ones were having the *most* issues, was greatly thankful, and we look forward to having more valuable feedback from our SX OS users on what needs to be improved on for our next SX OS release.’

2.9.2 Announcement:

Where to Buy:

The best current place to buy in the US, and generally has sales pretty often is from Mod3DSCard’s site. If you need an SX Core or SX Lite, their site may have some. But in the US, they’re a bit harder to find.

Instructions:

  1. If you’re not already up to date, update to 9.0.1 using your method of choice.
  2. Download the latest SX OS beta boot.dat file from xecuter’s website.
  3. Insert your Switch’s microSD card into your computer.
  4. Drag and drop boot.dat file to the microSD card. If you have an old boot.dat file, let this overwrite it. If you’re a new SX OS user, this just sits on the root.
  5. Return your microSD card to your Switch and use it how you always have.
  6. Boot the system using the SX Pro dongle or the payload injection method as you always have.
