Nintendo launches bug bounty program for the 3DS

In a system that is riddled with bugs/exploits, Nintendo finally tries to do something for the 3DS to help find and report security vulnerabilities, where they could pay you up to $20,000 for finding it.new_nintendo_3ds_reg-0 It’s really late in the system life that Nintendo just now opened up a bug bounty program if this was 3 or 4 years ago then it could be a different story, maybe but still why so late in the game. Is there something we don’t know about with Nintendo Switch or could this be a test run for something they could employ with later systems. So many what “if’s”, let’s take it as it is, just a bug bounty program for the 3DS that’s a little too late if you ask me.

“Nintendo is offering an incentive to the world’s finest researchers to find and report security vulnerabilities for the Nintendo 3DS family of handheld game systems. In coordination with HackerOne, Nintendo will pay up to U.S. $20,000 for the discovery of critical security vulnerabilities.

Nintendo is dedicated to providing video game fans worldwide premium entertainment in a welcoming and secure environment. To that end, Nintendo invites highly skilled researchers to find and address vulnerabilities on the Nintendo 3DS handheld system that could jeopardize that environment. Nintendo is committed to creating a better game-play experience for all through those actions.

Certain conditions apply to this program. To learn about the full details, and to report Nintendo 3DS security vulnerabilities, please visit https://hackerone.com/nintendo.”

  1. By “certain conditions apply,” you really mean “No Smealum,” right?

  2. Let’s be honest:

Anyone who participates in this a program is totally a sellout and a douche.
