Hyperkin, the folks that brought the Game Genie back to life and graciously gave us the Retron 3 and Retron 5, have pulled a good one.
What started as a semi-April Fools joke has turned into an actual project. Hyperkin team member Chris Gallizzi shared pics of this device they are calling the “Smartboy” and it was intended to be a “test the waters” trial to see what people thought. Later Hyperkin also shared the device on their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
If it got a bad response then it was to be played off as an April Fools joke. Well, it turns out we all excitedly applauded the device so it is now in real development. Currently it is to support the iPhone 6 but I, for one, hope it supports most smart phones.
Having an iPhone 5S I would love to be able to play Gameboy/Gameboy Color games on the go with my phone. As always, I will keep you posted with what I know.
I hope it can work with Ipod touches too. Might get one second hand if so.
