The Little Acre

The Little Acre is a little slice of cuteness!

The Little Acre

Ladies and gents, I’m back with another game review and today I decided to stray from my usual game type and review a “point-and-click” adventure game by Pewter Games Studios and Curve Digital. It’s called The Little Acre and it’s definitely a little slice of cute fun. Let’s just dive right in, shall we?

The Little Acre

The Little Acre is your standard point and click adventure game, I assume since I’ve never played one, and it’s definitely got some cute elements to it and also a nice storyline. You start out controlling Aidan but you’ll get your chance to control his daughter Lily as well while you ramble around trying to figure out what happened to Aidan’s father and where he might be. Aidan is your standard father trying to keep his daughter happy and safe, after all he does have an extremely intelligent dog that does the job when he’s not around, but Lily is having none of it. She is as mischievous as they come and always getting into things. Aidan eventually disappears from Lily’s world so naturally she has to follow suit. You will have a lot of fun trying to figure out what to do with the things you pick up and how to progress the story. If you’re used to these games you may fly right through it. I didn’t. LOL

The controls respond pretty well but my biggest complaint is the character’s speed is quite slow. It takes a while to walk from one side of the house to the other. However, the environment is a hand-drawn dream. Bright, vivid colors give you a great sense of the time when these games were all the rage. You’ll switch between cursor mode, where the left stick controls a cursor that, at times, feels better suited for a PC and mouse, and other times you’ll control your character’s movement.

The Little Acre

There’s not a whole lot else to say without spoiling some of the story. You have to solve puzzles and control Lily’s little antics that frustrate the dog who tries to keep her in line. Regardless I have to say this game was a pleasant surprise for me. I was unsure about this genre but it’s given me a good, favorable view of it. Overall, I would rate this game a 7/10 since I’m not a huge fan of these but I did enjoy it. There were a few things, which I mentioned, that were small setbacks but they were minor and didn’t really change the game much. The story is excellent and the hand-drawn graphics are quite nice. If you are a fan of hand-drawn point and click adventures you certainly won’t be disappointed with The Little Acre. It’s available on PC, PS4 and XboxOne! Thanks for reading and as always… Happy Gaming and keep on PRAISING THE SUN!!!
