To all you SHMUP fans have I got a treat for you and it goes by the name of DOGOS!!
For those of you that are fans of SHUMP (shoot em ups) as I am. DOGOS is a blast to play and is from the creators of Project Root by OPQAM and has brought to us yet again another futuristic shooter beyond all imagination.
This game features brilliant storytelling narrated by the characters you play and interact with. This is the age old story of humans fighting an astronomical threat. While defending the galaxy from the ashes of a crumbled and destroyed the earth.
DOGOS puts forth an engrossing game dialogue and moving diary entries that give you a story that must be told.
The games mechanics are fluid with gameplay that is surprisingly challenging. For those of you who are like me and have been playing these types of games for years, this is a wonderful addition to the SHMUP genre that is fast-paced and a challenging experience.
For those of you that have played Project Root picking up this game may not be much of a challenge, but mastering it will definitely leave a bald spot in the center of your head. 😉
DOGOS has a beautiful layout of levels with in-depth mountain ranges, water, and varying bases that will lead you into this world where you are thrown right into an ongoing war.
Now the game does use what may be a slightly unusual two stick flight method. This two stick flight method (while tricky to get use to in the beginning) becomes almost second nature as you play through.
Throughout the game you destroy more and more of the enemy as you progress through the levels you will gain upgrades, abilities, and even ship colors to make your experience that much more enjoyable.
This game does not require the player to be a pro at the start as it’s slightly slower paced which allows you the player to take in the environments as you hone in on your next target.
The first mission, in particular, is an escort mission normally I don’t care for escort missions the AI is usually pretty dumb and leaves itself to death, that is not the case here the AI will sit back while you go through destroying the forces ahead of you and yelling at you to please come back because it needs some protection.
