PKGi will let you download your content on the PSVita with FW3.60

Developer mmozeiko has released pkgi, it’s an app for the PSVita that can download and unpack pkg files, plus install it right to the live area. App’s like this wouldn’t be needed if we could still download and activate our own stuff, we bought from games to movies. We can’t even use the old PS3 trick of getting content onto Lower Firmware, so without plugins like NoNpDrm fake license (which will still be needed) and downloaders like this, we would be stuck with no way of getting our content back on the PSVita with FW3.60.

Features

  • an easy way to see the list of available downloads, including searching, filter & sorting.
  • standalone, no PC required, everything happens directly on Vita.
  • automatic download and unpack, just choose an item, and it will be installed, including bubble in live area.
  • resumes interrupted download, you can stop the download at any time, switch applications, and come back to download from the place it stopped.

Current limitations:

  • no support for DLC or PSM.
  • no queuing up multiple downloads.
  • no background downloads – if the application is closed or Vita is put to sleep then the download will stop.

  1. Sweet app but it sounds like it will only help if you have already downloaded the title from PSN. For me and others who don’t have updated licenses to decrypt the titles, it still won’t allow purchased downloads to install right.
