The Dreamcast was the last and greatest gaming system published by Sega! But the burden of the failed Sega Saturn, the looming release of the PS2 and the lack of support from third-party developers and piracy ultimately doomed the ambitious console. With its built-in Modem, VMUs and games that are still worth going back to today, it was just ahead of its time!

But, alas, its star shone bright but short and only 2 years after release, the Dreamcast was discontinued. That doesn’t mean it’s dead, though, because a very vibrant homebrew community keeps the console alive and Kickstarter projects even fund more expensive releases.
