From Software have started the rumour mill with regards to the release of a Dark Souls 3. As E3 pulls closer, the rumours circulating this week have indicated that the critically acclaimed title will get an official E3 reveal. However, many sources have encouraged skepticism with regards to rumours and games a week leading up to the Entertainment Expo.
A Rooster Teeth show titled The Know on their YouTube channel brought to light this information and screenshots of what appear to be from Dark Souls 3. The information in the video highlights screenshots, concept art and game-play information.
The Know in their video yelled pieces of information regarding 45 new enemies, 15 new bosses, 12 new areas in the game world, 10 playable classes, the support of up to 4 players and 60 minutes of in-game cut-scenes.
One unusual point stated above, which debunks this rumour slightly, is the fact that From Software have never hinged their games on the story, nor extended cut-scenes. So to have The Know assert that there will be 60 minutes of in-game cut-scenes, strikes me as very strange and goes against the style of the original games and its sister counterparts such as Bloodborne.
There has yet to be any official confirmation from Bandai Namco who announced earlier this month that Hidetaka Miyazaki, the lead developer of Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, will take the reigns on this title.
Other Pieces of Information
- Dark Souls 3 will release next year for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a release for the PC ‘negotiable’
- 12 new areas
- “Sacrifice Ceremonies” used to visit other players worlds, meaning you have to drag around a dead body in a specific area to perform a ritual in order to be able to visit another players world (As opposed to placing down a summoning sign in the original Dark Souls games)
- Bonfires are now created by sacrificing
- Information indicates that there is something called “Sword Fighting Arts,” which includes moves such as “Rush” and “Circle”
- 100 new weapons and 40 sets of armour sets
- The game changes the way you approach bosses with a new “heat up” tactic
