9.6.0-24 update out for the 3DS with amiibo settings & more

Nintendo has just released a new 3DS firmware update version 9.6.0-24, which is needed in order to access the eShop like all updates. This update has added amiibo settings for regular 3DS owners (non-New 3DS) and has added a Home Menu Layout setting. Nintendo said, that a peripheral device will be released later this year to make use of the amiibo figures.new-3ds-xl

Now there hasn’t been any word on if the Sky3ds or gateway 3ds flashcarts work with this firmware update

UPDATE: 3ds 9.6.0-24 update, blocks Gateway EmuNAND, but its been reported that the SKY3DS still works.

Changes to HOME Menu:
A Home Menu Layout setting has been added to HOME Menu Settings. Users can save and load up to 8 layouts of the HOME Menu with different theme and software icon arrangements
Changes to Theme Shop:
Additional categories have been added under “View More” for easier navigation of the Theme Shop
Improvements to system stability and usability:
Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience
Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, and Nintendo 2DS Systems Only:
Changes to HOME Menu Settings
amiibo Settings has been added to HOME Menu Settings. amiibo Settings allows users to register an amiibo owner and nickname, delete data written to an amiibo by supported software, or reset an amiibo*
*This feature will require a peripheral device scheduled to launch in 2015
