How To: Update a ModRetro Chromatic

This article only covers Windows users, if you’re a Linux or Mac user, check the main updater page by clicking on this link. For everyone else, let’s continue.

What You Need:

Chromatic handheld

USB-C data cable

Windows PC

What You Do:

1. 1. Download the newest update simply by clicking this link.
   2. Turn on your Chromatic device.
   3. Connect the USB-C cable into the device and the other end into your computer.
   4. On your computer, open the download. The first time you run it, it make give you a SmartScreen warning. In the lower left of the popup, click on ‘More info’. Click on ‘Run Anyway’ and it will understand that you know the program is safe.
   5. Install the program the way you would any piece of PC software.
   6. Once you’re past the initial screens, it will tell you to turn on the device and once you do, it will start detecting the current firmware you’re on.
   7. After it does that it will tell you if you’re up to date or need to update. In this scenario, we do need to update, so let’s proceed and click the large ‘Update’ button.
      
   8. Don’t touch or unplug or turn off anything while this process is going, you’ll risk a brick. Everything you see the handheld do during the process is standard. It takes less than 5 minutes to complete.
   9. Once it’s complete, it will tell you so and you can unplug the device.
   10. If you want to know when they have new updates, you can follow them on socials. Or you can just run this updater as often as you’d like.
