PS3: FERROX 4.78 CEX Standard & NOBD CFW released

Developer Alexander released a new update of his FERROX CFWs and updated them to FW 4.78. For those who don’t know what an NOBD CFW is: If you find yourself with a PS3 Console that will display the XMB but when you go to launch a Game or App but they won’t start, in many cases, this means your BD Drive and/or BD Logic Board is damaged. If these items are damaged you obviously will not be able to use the disc drive on your console, but thanks to the “fine” developers over at SONY this affects the launching of Applications and HDD based games also.

So if your were an Official Firmware (OFW) user you would have a sick paperweight with a cool digital wave (when connected to a TV). However if your a CFW user, that paperweight can rightfully be used once again as a Console for playing your favorite movies and games. With the use of an NOBD CFW (this CFW will not magically repair your BD Drive/Board) it will bypass it, and you can launch applications and HDD based games once again and thus do not need to rebuy a console but rather you can still use your working hardware that is essentially disabled for an OFW user. If your BD Drive isn’t broken then you can just use the normal FERROX CFW. If you need the NOBD CFW just scroll past this and go right to the NOBD CFW part 🙂

FERROX 4.78 Standard CEX CFW

For the normal FERROX CFW Developer Alexander has disabled Cinavia protection, disabled the annoying Epilepsy Warning Boot screen and added a package manager instead of the normal “Install Package Files” option. The full feature list can be found below.

• MultiMAN v4.76.00 – Tested and Working, it needs updating to recognize the CFW 4.78. Lacking the Payload MAMBA not charge games alone.
• IrisMAN v3.50.8 – Tested and 100% Working. Upload Games HD Internal and External.
• ManaGunz v1.23 – I personally works perfectly, even at SNK. Mizio argues that some games misbehave. Maybe some small configuration? I do not know. Let us know if you try it!
• prepNTFS v1.13 – 100% Tested and Working.
• MAMBA PRX LOADER

This CFW is only for PS3 Models up to 2,5k. Newer Slim Models and Super Slim are NOT Supported! And of course, you will need to have a CFW already installed or be on 3.55 to install this CFW!

Installation method is the same as any other CFW/MFW/OFW.
Just make a Folder called PS3 on the root of your USB and in that folder make a folder called UPDATE. Just copy the CEXFERROX478.PUP in there and rename it to PS3UPDAT.PUP. Then just plug your USB into your PS3 and update via USB.
