Wearable Technology has a very bright future ahead. Devices based on augmented reality have a much more resounding lead than any other wearable tech, even virtual reality-based ones.
HoloLens
A great example is Microsoft’s HoloLens (the image at top shows person playing Minecraft on the HoloLens), which can be used for Skyping and for playing games. At E3 this year, Microsoft showcased the HoloLens playing Minecraft. The AR Demo stunned thousands of people present at E3 and millions of techies. Though we don’t have much information on the price and release, all we know is that it will be great.
The Apple Watch
The Apple Watch is basically a smart watch, but the best in class. It’s pricey but better than other smart watches. It has an extremely bright future, though there are some improvements for to be made, but after all it is Apple’s first smart watch. It is extremely powerful since recently a user put Mac’s OS 7 (The one from 1990s) in the watch without jailbreaking it. A few things Apple could do is to make it standalone. The Apple Watch requires an iPhone for its core steps like setting it up, downloading apps and features such as messages.
Project Morpheus
Sony’s Project Morpheus, another gaming VR headset which is competing with Microsoft’s
HoloLens and the Oculus Rift, it is exclusive to PlayStation and is exclusively made for gaming. Not much was detailed during E3 but there was a gameplay demo of plying a first person shooter multiplayer game so called Rigs. There’s more to come and is still in its staple stages of development.
The Oculus Rift
The Oculus Rift was one of the first VR hits. It is available to purchase but it’s not in its final stage. It was bought by Facebook for 2 Billion USD. It has a lot of fan-made games, so there’s a wide genre of games available, it is competing with Sony’s Project Morpheus. Lots of famous YouTubers have used it, and it also supports some AAA games such as Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto 5 (Modding is required.) and many more.
