PS4 Remote Play for Android: Updated for FW 3.00

Today I have some good news on the Android PS4 Remote Play front for FW3.00. Over at XDA user, twisted89 has released an update to the PS4 Remote Play app for Android here is what he had to say

B5MV6FYIQAAnC3J

This is just a temporary fix. I’ve managed to update the old app with the new Remote Play protocol so it works but doesn’t have the frontend features of the new app (single sign on, 360p resolution option), it should have everything from the last release but I haven’t tested much.

This is a Port of the Official PS4 Remote Play App for Android. The mod consists of a single APK file that can be installed on any device that meets the requirements below.

Features:

  • Root Check/APK Signature Check Disabled.
  • Connection Speed Check Removed.
  • Wifi Check Removed.
  • XML/JAR Dependencies Removed.
  • Downgraded Minimum Required SDK to 4.0.
  • Native controller Support for Dualshock and Nvidia Shield (Beta) – Dualshock Instructions below.

Requirements:

Install Instructions:

  1. Download APK.
  2. Copy to device and install or use the adb command “adb install <apk>” from your PC.
  3. Done!

Dualshock Bluetooth Setup Instructions:

  1. Download and Install Sixaxis Controller App
  2. Follow in-app instructions for pairing your controller.
  3. In the sixaxis app preferences ensure ‘Enable Gamepad’ is checked under ‘Gamepad Settings’
  4. Edit mappings in the sixaxis app so that x = A, circle = B, square = X, triangle = Y
  5. Load up remote play app and play!

Thanks to @Max4143

  1. Depending on your carrier all you have to do is create another access point name (via connection settings, more networks, mobile networks, then Access point names) with the same exact information
  2. When you get to APN Protocol, input ipv4 instead of ipv6. you should now be able to remote play over data network as well as wifi

Known Issues

  1. Sixaxis doesn’t map the action buttons correctly, see Bluetooth instructions above to fix this.
  2. PS button only working on OTG and native Bluetooth, Sixaxis doesn’t support the PS button.
  3. The touchpad is not yet working.

  1. After reading this last night and installing the latest .APK on my tablet, there is still way to much lag on my device to be usable. So, i’m just wondering if this is something Mr. Gas or Major Tom or any of the other very talented devs out there could possibly figure out to update the PS Vita/ PS TV remote play app to get the feature working again without having to update to the latest f/w. I’ve just started to mess around with my PS TV/Vita and have managed to get the whitelist trick working, which was the thing i most wanted really, i’m on f/w 3.51 and have now lost my remote play function on both systems due to not wanting to update. Would it even be possible to update something in the apps on the PS TV/Vita using any of the tricks just released or not?? Sorry for asking but i have no programming skills and i’m sure i’m not the only one wondering the same, Cheers.

  2. as it stands twisted89 at XDA is working on this android port but as far as the PS Vita and the PSTV you may not beable to remote play yet they could be working on a trick but nothing has been said just yet.

I have an Xperia Z2 which I imported from the UK to the United States so I could have 4G without branding and to this day Sony still considers my device unsupported even though the branded units all are allowed to use remote play. It’s the main reason why I refused to buy the Z3 or Z4 – I felt cheated. I mean, I spent nearly $700 for this new and they couldn’t be bothered to support it.

Apk files like this are the only way I can use my tablet with remote play, but whenever it says it requires an update I have to install a new apk file which is a shame, but at least it works.

  4. Seeing that we now have control to connect a device to the ps4.. does it seem possible that threw this app we csn install a trainer or some sort. And have a way of getting mods on console? As to using a mod menu on the android phone sending it to console? Just a theory..

Yeah, if you download the grinder app on your phone you can play xbox one games on the ps4

  5. Hey I have a Samsung Galaxy S 6 and I’m trying to do remote play but every time I download an app for the PS4 remote play it says I must update the app or I get a error code. Does anyone have an updated link for the most updated app so that I can do that remotely

    • The post has been updated with new links and you can always check the download section to see if the updates are there as that gets updated more offend then post do.
